For 4WDs and drivers with reasonable 4WD experience or 4WD training. The Sandy Point side trip provides access to a beautiful section of the Snowy River and to camping on the western banks of the Snowy River. Here you can enjoy your lunch or stay a few days and enjoy a paddle on the Snowy River.
Getting there
Turn off the Buchan-Orbost Road onto Sandy Point Track and travel 7.2km to reach Sandy Point Campground. Sections on the side trip are unsuitable for caravans due to roads being narrow and steep.
