This drive is suitable for novice drivers in all-wheel drive and high range 4WDs. The Glen Willis Loop offers an intriguing mix of natural and cultural heritage, with numerous spots to stop, camp, fish, or kayak along the Mitta Mitta River. Start from Omeo, following Creek Street into town, then turn left onto Great Alpine Road. Continue onto Omeo Highway and turn right onto Omeo Valley Road, heading to Hinnomunjie Bridge. This historic 1910 bridge crosses the Mitta Mitta River providing access to nearby campgrounds. Continue on Omeo Valley Road, taking a left onto Knockers Track to reach Knockers Lookout for stunning views of the cleared valley from 1,477 meters. Return to Omeo Highway and…
Getting there
The tour starts at Omeo’s Livingstone Creek Park, heading north on Day Avenue and onto the Omeo Highway. Roads subject to ice and snow during winter, chains should be carried. Knocker Track is gravel with road subject to flooding and snowdrifts.
