Reids Tramline Walk

Reids Tramline Walk is a Parks Victoria walk in Victoria’s High Country, 13 km SE of Warburton.

This walk follows a historic tramline where horses and later, steam locomotives once hauled logs out of the forest. Begin at the Powelltown picnic area across from the DELWP office. Follow the signs to cross the Little Yarra River and head up the stairs to access the old Reids Tramline route. Along the walk you will come across parts of the old tramway and relics of an old timber mill, before exiting the bush and walking west back into town. Within the township you will pass many historic buildings including The Uniting Church and the area's last operating timber mill.

Getting there

From Melbourne head out along the Maroondah Highway to Lilydale. Past Lilydale, head right onto Warburton Highway. At the township of Yarra Junction, turn right at the traffic lights onto the Yarra Junction-Noojee Road and travel 15km to Powelltown. The walk commences at the Powelltown Picnic ground across the road from the DELWP office.
