The Upper Yarra Walking Track is the oldest long distance walking track in Australia and it provides a challenging walk along old logging tramlines and old vehicle tracks finishing at Mt Whitelaw on the Alpine Walking Track. Passing through tall eucalypt forest and fern gullies, this grade 4 multi day walking track is suited to the experienced bushwalker. To extend the walk and follow the original route of the track, add on the Walk Into History Track starting at Warburton and finishing at the Ada Tree Picnic Area. Getting there

The official start of the Upper Yarra walking track is at the Ada Tree Picnic Area. From Powelltown, head east along the Yarra Junction-Noojee Rd (C425) for 6km then turn left up Big Creek Road. Travel along Big Creek Road for 22km and turn right down Federal Road. Travel along Federal Road for 3km until you reach the Ada Tree Picnic Area.The track ends on the Alpine Walking Track, so the closest pickup point would be to continue the Alpine Walking Track to the north and finish on Thomson Valley road, or to the south, finishing at the Mt Baw Baw village.
