This side trip is a difficult 4WD alternative to travelling along the Woods Point-Jamieson Road, with short rocky sections and a long steep decline where it joins up with the main road just south of Knockwood. This difficult 4WD track takes you past German Spur Settlement and the Alpine Hotel. In the late 1800s this was the original track to Woods Point from the north. German Spur Track was used to detour around Gaffneys Creek to access the Upper Goulburn diggings more directly. The track was likely named after Charles Yukert who operated the German Alpine Hotel.
