For 4WDs and drivers with some 4WD experience or training. Just out of Woods Point you can take the Old Coast Road turnoff just before Jack Scotts Reserve as an optional side trip (Grade – Medium) to the main Woods Point to Jamieson Tour. This side trip passes by the sites of the Barretts Mountain Home Hotel, Charles Brothers Sawmill and Frenchmans Hotel. Onsite interpretation along the route tells some of the history of the gold mining era. In the late 1800s, this was the original track to Woods Point from the north.
Getting there
This side trip is accessed off the Mansfield – Woods Point Road just west of Woods Point and heads north up Old Coast Road.
