Far East Gippsland Backroad Tour - Stringers Knob Mottle Range is a Parks Victoria touring route in Victoria’s High Country, 32 km E of Nowa Nowa.

This drive is suitable for novice drivers in all-wheel drive and high range 4WDs. This half day tour (84km) loops through the Mottle Range Flora Reserve taking in many stops along the East Gippsland Rail Trail and the historic site of the Stringers Knob fire tower. All which showcase fine examples of past engineering efforts of past generations. There are two “Optional Side Trips” which are available for the more equipped tourers, taking you down to campgrounds along the Snowy River. This main drive can be done in 2WDs in dry weather only or 4WDs year-round but note conditions will deteriorate considerably in wet weather. Starting from Orbost’s main street Nicholson Street, head south towards Princes Hwy to start the tour.
