For 4WDs and drivers with some 4WD experience or training. Although this tour has been graded as “Medium – 4WD”, conditions will deteriorate considerably in wet weather. Note that seasonal road closures apply to some tracks along this route so it cannot be completed during the wetter months of the year. One way travel also applies near Waratah Flat. The Waratah Loop will give you a taste of the Snowy River country, some rugged countryside and tall forests. Highlights when driven clockwise, in order of appearance are passing by the eastern banks of the Snowy River and then a detour down to Woods Point on the Snowy River. Getting there
From Orbost Forest Park, head north along Orbost’s main street Nicholson Street to start the tour. Note seasonal road closures apply from mid-June to end of October throughout the route.
