For 4WDs and drivers with reasonable 4WD experience or 4WD training. This side trip off the main High Country Backroad Tour - Dargo to Swifts Creek detours to the headwaters of the Wentworth River and a challenging 3km return walk down to the spectacular Wentworth Falls. After the falls walk, return along McDonalds Road for 8.5km to King Street, turn left and travel 1.4km to Wentworth River and its understory of Omeo Gum (Eucalyptus neglecta). Continue along King St for a further 200 metres to the Jirnkee Water Race. This water race is renowned for its impressive length of 56 miles (90 kilometres) and was built during the gold mining boom in 1889/90 to bring water from the Wentworth River…
