Stringybark Creek Historic Loop is a Parks Victoria walk in Victoria’s High Country, 7.4 km NW of Toombullup.
- Walk · 1.55 km one way · under 1 hr · Grade 3
Stop in at the Stringybark Creek Historic Reserve to get your dose of local history. This is the spot that the infamous Kelly gang shot and killed three police officers (Constables Lonigan, Scanlan and sergent Kennedy) in 1878. This track visits the key sites of this event, with on-site information signs detailing the events of those times. Step back in time and take the Stringybark Creek Loop Walk that re-enacts the path that Constable McIntyre and Sergeant Kennedy took as they tried to escape from the Kelly gang. The walk is 1400 metres in length and takes approximately 40 minutes to complete with the occasional steps.
No experience required · Well formed track · Gentle hills · Occasional steps · Clearly sign posted
